Description :
As a coach, you are the one who asks others questions, mirrors them and helps them to become aware of their strengths, potential, blind spots, new perspectives, etc. But who does that to you?
Part of a coaching mindset is to continue learning as a person and as a professional and to organise your own reflective praxis. Possibilities for this include intervision, supervision, mentor coaching, courses or training. Here we will discuss the option of supervision.
As Edna Murdoch, co-founder of the Coaching Supervision Academy, reminds us: “Who you are is how you supervise.”This insight highlights the deeply personal and relational nature of supervision – where your presence and self-awareness become central to your impact as a coach. (© Edna Murdoch)
The Increasing value of Supervision in Coaching
Supervision is rightly required by professional organisations for certification. Both during your training and throughout your years as a coach practitioner.
Supervision offers:
In short, whether you are just starting out or have been coaching for years, supervision helps you to:
Our supervisors at My Coaching Toolkit bring a rich diversity of approaches and backgrounds – and a shared commitment to helping you evolve your unique coaching presence.
What can you expect?
Our supervision is based on relational dialogue. Self-reflection and awareness are fundamental to our approach.
You know that the most important tool you have as a coach is yourself. Together with your supervisor, you will continue to develop and refine yourself in this regard. That means self-knowledge: awareness of your strengths, style and values; recognising your own biases, beliefs, projections, (counter)transference and subtle dynamics in coaching processes. It also means insight into the complex situations you may find yourself in and how you can act professionally and effectively.
Just like a coach, your supervisor will ask you questions and mirror you to help you find your own insights and answers. In addition, your supervisor will offer you insights, knowledge, ideas or advice from his or her more experienced role.
Examples of themes that you can bring to supervision:
You can choose from 3, 6 or 9 sessions (1 hour each). Sessions take place online or by telephone.
Discount for 9 sessions.
ICF and EMCC recommend that coaches receive regular supervision: approximately one session per 35 to 40 hours of client coaching. This is a guideline, intended to keep you professionally sharp, ethically grounded and well-supported, tailored to the intensity of your practice.
At My Coaching Toolkit, we offer a flexible and thoughtful approach to connecting you with the right supervisor.
