Identifying and overcoming the challenges presented by Imposter Syndrome, both for ourselves as coaches and when working with similar issues in our coachees, involves several key steps.
You will have access to 5 videos : a 10 minute introduction video followed by four 20 to 30 minute recorded coaching sessions. You will learn tips and tools on ways to take control on Imposture Syndrome. Maria recommends to look the videos in order with an interval of one to two weeks between sessions.
“In week one, we’ll start to look at the problems posed by Impostor Syndrome. We’ll explore the challenges you’re facing and how you’ve been trying to address them.
I’ll help you understand why what you’ve tried so far hasn’t worked.
I’ll introduce the concept of ‘self-observation’, a way of raising your self-awareness so that you can step back, see how you get in your own way, and change how you think, feel and act to get better results.We’ll look at setting some objectives.”
“In week two, we’ll explore what you’ve started to notice so far in your self-observation. What themes and patterns are emerging, and how can you use them?
We’ll bring in the emotions and understand why we ignore them at our peril.
We’ll talk about how taking control of Imposter Syndrome entails harnessing both what you think and what you feel.”
“In week three, we’ll start to tweak the self-observation, adapting it depending on the patterns you’ve observed. We’ll continue working with the emotions and we’ll look at what happens physically when we allow Imposter Syndrome space.
I’ll give you some exercises that you can use to start to build new habits.”
Week four focuses on building and ensuring sustainability. What are the habits that will help you to maintain the progress you’ve made so far? Who can support you going forward? What role might a coach or a mentor play in your future development?
Maria has worked as an executive and leadership coach for around fifteen years and has extensive experience of enabling leaders and their coaches to be the very best they can be. Maria is particularly skilled at quickly cutting through complexity and identifying pragmatic approaches.
As well as being internationally accredited as a coach and a coach supervisor, Maria also worked for many years in financial services, specialising in risk and client management. Therefore, this gives her a unique insight into the challenges facing leaders and the coaches who work with them.
Maria is an experienced trainer of coaches. She worked many years with Centre for Coaching in South Africa, where she originally trained as a coach. She also taught over 300 leaders how to coach across two continents and in three languages.
