Why a core sentence works so well

Want more alignment in your choices, work and direction? The my key phrase card deck helps you (or your client) put words to what feels true in four steps, so a core sentence emerges, one that offers steadiness in transitions and moments of doubt.

That quiet question often shows up in the middle of the rush

In work and life, a lot happens at once. Transitions, expectations, choices that seem to demand faster and faster decisions. And right there, in the messiness of everyday life, a quiet question often appears: why am I doing what I’m doing, and does it still feel right?

That question rarely comes at a calm moment. Most of the time it shows up between appointments, in the car, or just before you fall asleep. You’ve done your day, you’ve handled a hundred things, and yet it can feel like you’re living slightly beside yourself. Not dramatic. Just… not fully in line.

Many people try to solve that by thinking even harder. Another list, another plan, another conversation. And sometimes that helps. But often the issue isn’t a lack of insight. It’s the absence of direction that also feels true in your body. An inner compass you don’t have to reinvent every week.

Why a core sentence works so well

A core sentence is a short, personal line that captures what you want to stand for. Not a perfect slogan and not a “big truth”, but a sentence that helps you remember: this is who I am, this is what matters to me, this is what I want to stay true to.

Precisely because it’s so short, it works like an anchor. In moments of doubt. When there’s pressure. When you’re tempted to move with what others expect. A core sentence makes choices simpler, not because everything suddenly becomes easy, but because you can feel more quickly what fits and what doesn’t.

In coaching: from insight to alignment

You see it happen often in sessions. Someone can explain exactly what’s going on. The analysis makes sense. The patterns are clear. And still, something keeps shifting. Only when someone finds words that are truly their own does a kind of calm appear. Not the “I’ve fixed it” calm, but the “I know where I stand again” calm.

That’s why formulating a core sentence is such a powerful method. It brings head and heart together. And it helps someone not only understand a change, but also anchor it.

Why a card deck helps

Simply saying “write a core sentence” can feel too big for many people. Where do you start? Which words are truly yours, and which come from books, socials, or old expectations?

A card deck gives structure without steering. It opens first, then deepens, then gets language moving, and finally helps with formulation. Step by step, at a pace that fits. It makes the process lighter, while allowing it to go deeper.

The my key phrase card deck

The my key phrase card deck is designed to support this process, both in 1:1 guidance and in groups. You work with 48 cards, divided into four categories that form a natural route: from inspiration to exploration, from words to formulation.

You start with inspiration to open something up. Then questions help you go deeper into values, drivers and choices. With completion cards, language starts flowing, without needing to sound “nice” right away. And finally, the formulation cards bring structure, so a core sentence emerges that doesn’t just sound smart, but above all feels like it’s truly yours.

What makes it so supportive is that the deck invites, but never forces. There’s room to skip a question. To be quiet for a moment. To test, shift, and rephrase. Not in search of the perfect sentence, but of words that feel true.

What clients take with them

A core sentence often goes into the week with them. On a post-it. In a notebook. As a phone background. Not because it “has to”, but because it helps. As a small check-in: am I still living by what I just named?

And maybe that’s the best part: a core sentence isn’t an endpoint. It’s a snapshot that moves with your life. Sometimes you refine it. Sometimes it stays for years. But each time, it’s a return to yourself.

Want to use this in your coaching or training? Then the my key prhase card deck is a practical method to have on hand: light to use, deep in effect, and immediately applicable in 1:1 and group settings.
